Most properly installed HVAC systems will see you through 15 years, unless there is an obvious flaw to the heat exchanger, which could be possibly due to incorrect installation. Unfortunately, the newest high efficiency furnace we’ve replaced due to incorrect installation was just 5 years, but this should not be the norm.
The right system size depends on your home’s square footage, insulation, layout, and climate. An improperly sized system can lead to inefficiency and uneven temperatures, so a professional load calculation is essential.

You can improve air quality by regularly replacing filters, maintaining your HVAC system, sealing duct leaks, and adding air purification or filtration systems.
Most HVAC installations can be completed in one day, depending on the complexity of the system and the home. Larger or more customized installations may take longer. Really it depends on the system and components. It can take longer to install a system correctly rather than ignoring hidden problems that will will cause comfort issues or cause big issues for you down the road. but generally:
- Furnace installs in 1 day
- Furnace and AC installs in 1-3 days
- Typical heat pump system 1-3 days
- Typical HVAC system and ducts 3-5 days
